An Interview with Espi Marinovic Mansi – Just Search’s New Social Media Manager
With social media becoming an increasingly dynamic cog of the digital marketing landscape Just Search naturally pursued the chase to find the most talented individuals in this exciting field. Having been at the vanguard of social’s arrival and boasting a colourful social media career to date, Espi Marinovic Mansi is certainly rising to the challenge to put social marketing at the heart of Just Search’s client campaigns. We caught up with our new Social Media Manager and talked Facebook bugs, industry changes and how collectively, SEO, social media and content will be a force to be reckoned with!
Where were you working before you joined Just Search?
Before joining Just Search I worked in the social team at Phones 4u for 18 months and prior to that I was working at Vodafone UK as part of their community management team.
When did you start to become involved in social media?
There’s a question! I started using forums and sites like MySpace when I was in my teens, and I was one of the first people I know to catch the Facebook bug. Career-wise, my move into social media came when I was working at Vodafone. They had created a team called the e-forum. We were one of the first large companies in the UK to be offering customer service and sales support on Twitter and Facebook and I was one of the people answering hundreds of Tweets and Facebook messages from customers. It was a very exciting project to be part of and it paved the way for many more years of fun in the social media sector.
The SEO/content/social media landscape is evolving constantly, what excites you about the way the industry is changing?
At the moment, I’m most excited about the shift of SEO. We’re no longer in an age where keyword stuffing and black hat techniques will win the race and this means that SEO, social and content teams all need to get their heads together to succeed. Bringing about a big change from how these teams have worked in the past. Collectively, SEO, social media and content teams will be a force to be reckoned with!
What are your thoughts about our company moving forward as a complete digital agency?
It’s the only way to go. Being in an industry that evolves so quickly means that we all have to adapt to change. Offering a full range of digital services means that we can better serve our existing clients and attract new clients too. It’s going to be a lot of fun creating a strong social media team and working on bigger campaigns than we have in the past. Knowing that my old mate Dean Quinn is heading up the content team means that I know we’ll always have strong, relevant content to distribute on behalf of our clients too, so that’s a bonus.
How have you found your first few weeks at Just Search?
In a word, busy! Coming from quite a corporate background where the focus was on one brand, the volume of clients that we deal with on a daily basis has been exciting. My first weeks have been filled with getting to know each client’s goals, assessing their current social media activity and then drawing up plans relating to how we will further improve on what we already have. It’s great to work with such a friendly bunch of people and they have made me feel very welcome.
What do you like doing in your spare time?
If I’m not sat at my laptop swatting up on the latest social media news you’ll either find me practicing yoga, cooking, listening to music or making preparations for my upcoming wedding.
And finally… How many Twitter followers have you got?
At the moment I have 650 followers on Twitter. If you want to keep up to date with everything from social media articles to how to perform the perfect pigeon-pose while making ginger & lime chicken, follow me @Espiresso.
