Just Search Women Just Keep Running!

Caroline runningWho needs the likes of Andy Murray, Chris Froome and Jessica Ennis to get our sport spectating pulses racing this summer? All you need to turn to is Just Search’s ace women runners to get your sport adrenaline fix.

All running for great causes, Just Search’s Sarah Cowan, Caroline Constable and Gabrielle Whitehead have been busy training, racing and raising money for charities in the blistering heat – Respect ladies!

Digital designer, Sarah Cowan recently ran the Race for Life at Heaton Park. The Race for Life is in aid of Cancer Research UK. It’s vital in funding their life-saving work in preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer. The charity receives no government funding so, as Sarah says, “every penny counts!”

In the sweltering sunshine, Sarah and her flatmate set out to raise £200 for the charity and ended up raising £310. “We we’re both thrilled,” said an elated Sarah.

After running the Race for Life, Sarah seems to have caught the ‘runner’s bug’:

It’s not a competitive race, but it’s immediately made me want to go out running more and run for longer periods of time without taking so many breaks,” says the Just Search digital designer.

Another admirable Just Search female athlete who most certainly has the ‘runner’s bug’ is Caroline Constable, Head of Search.

Seasoned runner Caroline runs several races a year, usually two or three 10Ks and a couple of half marathons. In April this year, Caroline tackled ‘the big one’ and completed her first marathon.

That was a major challenge and I can’t say I enjoyed it but I now seem to have the marathon bug and have lined up Chester marathon for October,” said Caroline.

For the Chester Marathon Caroline will be running to raise funds for the Bob Champion Trust.

Sarah CowanI am involved in the equestrian community and also have family and friends who have had or currently have cancer so this particular charity is close to my heart. I haven’t set my target yet but it will probably be £500 – £1000,” Caroline told us.

Our Head of Search runs an impressive four times a week – before breakfast!

When asked what she likes about running, Caroline replied:

I like the challenge and sense of achievement that running brings. The challenges aren’t necessarily just races either, pushing yourself out of the door on a cold, wet morning at 6am when you’d rather stay in bed can be a tall order.”

Also running the Race for Life this year was Gabrielle Whitehead, Digital Content Manager. Gabrielle braved the heat and joined the 4000-strong gathering in the Liverpool Race for Life. Asides raising £165 for Cancer Research UK, Gabrielle managed to get her personal best for a 5K – In temperatures hovering in the late 20s, that’s quite an achievement!

Well done ladies and come on lads, get your trainers, what are you waiting for?
