Just Search’s 2013 Charity Efforts

Just Search has decided that 2013 is the year to give something back, to help others that are less fortunate and to raise awareness about issues that need to be known.

The year started off with a Fiver 4 Fridays idea which meant that all employees could start their weekend half an hour early if they paid £5 to the charity of the week. The idea was a definite success – who’d turn down the opportunity to leave work early on a Friday? – and Just Search raised £155 for Manchester based charity Barnabus.

After that, Just Search helped another local charity ‘Once Upon A Smile’ by providing them with a free, brand new website design. ‘Once Upon A Smile’ works with families, children and parents who have suffered the loss of a parent, child, brother or sister to a terminal illness; the new website design that Just Search created will hopefully lead to a more successful online presence which will ultimately help to raise awareness of the charity.

Just Search then went on to support Team Hodgson at a Tough Mudder event in which they endured 12 miles of obstacles including underground mud tunnels, 12 foot high walls and 10,000 volts of electricity. This is an obstacle course designed by the special forces to test participant’s sheer grit and determination; as one of the toughest charity events that you can do and with all money raised going to such a worthy cause – Help for Heroes – Just Search couldn’t say no when it came to supporting such a strong team and managed to raise a huge £1,165.

Finally, – so far this year anyway – Just Search employee Dean Finegold is taking on the Brentwood Half Marathon next month in memory of 10 year old Amy Watson-Wright who lost her four year battle with a brain tumour in April last year. Dean is running to help raise awareness for Childflight a children’s charity that helps to provide holidays to Florida for children – and their families – who are suffering with potentially life threatening illnesses.  On Dean’s Just Giving page he describes how he is “not a fan of running so this will be very tough, however the fact I am running for this great cause and in memory of such a great little girl will get me to the end (I hope).

There are no real words that can talk up this amazing charity and the work they do for poorly children and their families in getting them holidays they will remember for the rest of their lives.”

It seems that many people agree with Dean’s sentiment that this is such a worthy cause as he has already had to boost his fundraising target twice after generous donations from friends and family helped him smash straight through the first two targets. “Thank you in advance for your generosity I will respond to everyone who donates personally I promise.”
