Staff Highlight – James Trotter, SEO & Outreach Executive

James-TrotterJuly’s staff highlight is awarded to James Trotter, an affable character, who likens Just Search to being a university for SEO, PPC and SEM! James has almost completed his apprenticeship and has accepted a permanent position with Just Search as an SEO and Outreach Executive.

What is your position at Just Search entail?

My job role at Just Search involves a variety of different tasks. I am a SEO & Outreach Executive and I tend to do a lot of off-page work. Most of my time is spent analysing backlink profiles and building new links through outreach activity.

What was your apprenticeship and how long were you doing it for?

The apprenticeship I have nearly finished is a level 3 business & administration course. I have been doing this apprenticeship for a year. The apprenticeship focuses heavily around the day to day aspects of working within an office environment.

How do you feel about now being employed permanently with Just Search?

I feel very happy about being employed by Just Search as I enjoy the work that I do. It also gives me the chance to enhance my skills further within the internet marketing industry. Just Search is like a university for SEO, PPC and SEM!

In what ways have you seen digital marketing evolve during the time you have been working in the industry?

Digital marketing has evolved a lot since I first started. This is mainly because of the algorithmic updates that Google rolls out such as Penguin and Panda. Link building is the main thing that I have seen change as now it isn’t about the amount of links that you build, but it is about the authority associated with the links that you build.

What has been your greatest achievement at Just Search so far?

My greatest achievement so far at Just Search is when I learnt to revoke manual spam action penalties. Once I have my coursework marked that will also be a big achievement for me when I pass.

How do you feel about Just Search moving towards a more ‘complete agency’ model?

I think Just Search moving to a complete agency model is great. Mainly because it gives you a chance to work with some really professional people and the things that you learn are things that you wouldn’t learn elsewhere.

What you like doing when you’re not working?!?

When I’m not working I like going to the gym and having a few drinks with my friends, I like having BBQ’s whenever possible. I like going on nights out in Manchester. I also like watching the Premier League and cannot wait for that to start again.
